Jakarta – PT Akses Prima Indonesia, a subsidiary of PT TRG Investama, provides fiber optic based telecommunications network infrastructure as well as other infrastructure related to Information, Communication and Telecommunication (ICT).
On Thursday (12/09/2019), PT Akses Prima Indonesia obtained its Closed Fixed Telecommunications Network Operating Licence from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, extendable for up to one year (12/09/2020).
Under Article 33 Paragraph (1) of Minister of Transportation Decree No. KM 20 of 2001 on Telecommunications Network Operations, closed fixed network operators are required to build networks for lease.
In line with the new licensing format, however, network operating licence holders are now required to commit to an annual network construction or development roll-out plan.
Today, closed fixed networks are delivered using several technologies: wireline (fiber optic) and wireless (microwave link or satellite/VSAT).
These requirements are inherently difficult for closed fixed network operators using VSAT systems to meet, because the network is leased from satellite owners and its development depends heavily on existing demand.
The licence allows PT Akses Prima Indonesia to lease fiber optic capacity to other operators wishing to reach an area, and to issue its own products and billing.
